KEY PROGRAM AMENITIES
There’s a certain set of batteries that only time away will recharge. Here’s the magic word – “getaway.” Treat your group to our retreat center activities where you can truly savor something that life often leaves too little time for each other’s company. And a lot of fun diversions. Capital Retreat Center offers several venues for group activities. Guests looking for active recreation will celebrate our tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, hockey rink, gymnasium, fitness center and sports fields. We are the perfect activity center venue!
Ropes/Challenge Courses: 50’ and 40’ high/low ropes activity towers, zip line over our lake, dueling zip lines, climbing wall, and 16 low challenge activities.
Theatre Center (Habima): Indoor/outdoor stage with amphitheatre bench-style seating, dressing rooms, prop storage, quality stage sound and lighting systems, large retractable electronic screen, stage risers with a variety of heights and podium. Both the indoor and outdoor areas are capable of seating an entire community together for a performance.
Active Recreation (Outdoor): Tennis, basketball, beach volleyball, grass volleyball courts, hockey rink, sports fields for softball, soccer, lacrosse, and hiking on nearby Appalachian Trail.
Active Recreation (Indoor): Our Leadership Center gymnasium is covered but open to the outside weather temperatures, so warm weather seasonal use is recommended. The 6,000 square foot gym floor can be used for multiple activities including basketball, gymnastics, wrestling, yoga, karate instruction, etc.
Campfires with s’mores: As an evening snack option, enjoy storytelling, singing and group bonding around the warmth of the fire, under the evening stars.
Additional charge for instructors and lifeguards:
Ropes/Challenge Courses: Perfect for those groups50’ and 40’ high/low ropes activity towers, across the lake zip line, dueling zip lines, climbing wall, and multiple low challenge activities.
Aquatics Center (Seasonal): A 5,500 square foot, junior Olympic solar-heated pool, diving board, two 40’ water slides, infinity zero entry, lounge chairs, water-play features, a program pavilion with picnic tables for pool-side events, gender separated bath house with bathrooms, showers, lockers and stadium lighting for evening use.
Lakefront (Seasonal): Our private lake is the perfect setting for canoeing, row-boating and fishing. All guests are required to where life-jackets at any time they are on our lake and Capital Retreat Center outdoor accredited lifeguards must be in attendance at all times that the lake is in use.
- Ropes instructors and lifeguards for the pool are accredited on our equipment, hired for 3-hour increments, and should be scheduled 6-weeks in advance of your arrival with your Guest Services Rep. Groups are not permitted to provide their own ropes instructors or lifeguards.
- Golf carts and gators can be rented locally. Inquire availability and costs with your Guest Services Rep during pre-event planning consultations.
- Although we do not provide transportation to our facility, we have discount relationships with excellent shuttle and bus services. For national/international groups flying into the area, we recommend using BWI Airport. For Northeast Regional groups traveling by train, we recommend using BWI Amtrak Station. BWI is 1-hour (75 miles) from Capital Retreat Center. For more information, inquire with your Guest Services Rep.
