First Annual DMV Kosher Brisket BBQ Competition
Low and Slow Wins the Show
August 16-18, 2024
Bring Your Mens Club, fraternity brothers, lay committee buddies, and friends! The weekend will be packed with connection, Shabbat celebration, and meat smoking.
Who is this for?
You, BBQ snobs who get annoyed when people think BBQ means braised meat slathered in sauce, or grilled burgers and dogs. If you bust out your smoker for a chag and buy whole brisket packer cuts still in the cryo, then this is YOUR competition. It’s time for kosher-observant smoked meat lovers to gather, show off their skills, and enjoy each other’s company.
What:
There’s zero kosher BBQ in the DMV, unless you make it yourself. What’s that about? We know what real BBQ should be. Let’s raise the bar on each other and put our skills to the test.
Where:
Capital Camps and Retreat Center is a Star-K supervised facility 75-90 minutes from Baltimore and DC in the beautiful Catoctin mountains. We have a variety of lodging, a beautiful campus with an eruv, and are fully kosher.
When:
August 16-18, 2024
All prep will take place Friday afternoon and knives down by sundown. Prepped briskets will hold ready in our kitchen until Havdalah, after which we can light our charcoal and settle in for a long night of smoking. Briskets will be judged Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Registration Deadline: July 31, 2024
Why:
Because our community deserves the real deal.
